“As is usual with this fun series we learn a lot about wine, have a good little mystery, and can take in fine wines, fine foods and cigars.”

"Benjamin Cooker and his assistant Virgile are back with another mystery centred around the French wine world. This tale starts off with a body found in a maceration vat, and then we go back to previous events, before picking up the story once again from this episode.

Of course by the title you will know that we are in the Beaujolais wine region, and this book will soon make you more acquainted with the wines from here, not just the Nouveau which most people are familiar with. As a wealthy businessman retires back to the area where he originally came from he has a point to prove, although his wife doesn’t seem that intent on joining him, much preferring to stay on in Versailles. Taking on Benjamin to take a look at the vineyard he is buying he wants assistance in getting the place up and running, producing some good wine that will hopefully sell.

In all everything should run as smoothly as possible, but a manager that has been poached from a rival firm suddenly dies whilst hunting - shot. But is this murder, suicide, or an accident? With the vineyard also suffering from vandalism is there now a feud between two winemakers, or could there be another explanation?

As we are about to find out, making and selling wine is not only a stressful occupation but can lead to something that is much more fatal. As is usual with this fun series we learn a lot about wine, have a good little mystery, and can take in fine wines, fine foods and cigars. Also in this book we read of quality watches. Full of jealousy, rivalry, obsession and bed hopping, and also sabotage this is a fun mystery that should keep you more than engaged. My only warning with this and any of the books in the series is do not read them whilst you are dieting, as you will find yourself salivating.” —4-star power reader review
