Noël Balen, writer and musician, has over thirty mysteries to his name, including the Winemaker Detective series, a hit cozy mystery and TV series. Hi co-author and wife Vanessa Barrot is a corporate lawyer who comes from a family of Parisian restaurant owners.
Translator Anne Trager founded Le French Book as an expression of her ongoing passion for France and crime fiction. She adapted this mystery into English with the help of award-winning editor Amy Richards.

In the Gourmet Crimes series, a food writer and her photographer explore France’s regions and food in a world where betrayal and murder are served up with a side of epicurean pleasure. Meals are paramount, served with a side order of betrayal, revelations, and murder. The main character, female sleuth Laure Grenadier, is a food writer and restaurant critic with access to the closed world of France’s top kitchens.
After solving murders in Lyon, Laure and Paco go to Normandy to eat at one of the region's finest tables, but a bout of food poisoning leads to several deaths. The whole region—from apple growers to cheese producers, Qatari horse farmers and Calvados officials—is up in arms.
In subsequent titles, a Michelin-star chef in Paris is murdered and Laure's investigation finds him to be a particularly unsavory character. In others, she and Paco go to Perigord, in southwestern France, and Brittany for more mystery and culinary exploration.
